PREFLEX girders replace old bridge structure
Turning old into new: We supplied 8 PREFLEX® girders as the supporting structure for the new bridge over the river Lenne in the town of Lennestadt-Saalhausen in the Sauerland region of Germany. Each of the 8 girders weighs 18 tons and is 20 meters long. The new bridge will be almost nine meters wide, making it possible for the first time for traffic to pass each other.
The girders were manufactured in our Breidenbach production facility. That is why in this case the heavy transports only had to cover a comparatively short distance of around 50 kilometers to the construction site.
The assembly of the girders was carried out by a local construction company and went smoothly. Our contract is now finalized, the completion of the bridge with sidewalks, road surface etc. is still pending and will take place within the next few months.
