Steel hall construction has been part of CHRISTMANN + PFEIFER from the very beginning. It’s where we come from - and where our strength and experience truly shine. We support projects from the very first idea through preliminary design and concept development all the way to fabrication and erection of the steel structure. And when it comes to design possibilities, there are virtually no limits - from efficient logistics halls to customized multi‑story production buildings and even aircraft hangars with long‑span, column‑free structures.

Our passion for building in steel runs deep - out of conviction, and for more than 100 years. There are many reasons why.

One decisive advantage is recyclability: steel can be recycled indefinitely without any loss of quality. Around 11% of steel is reused directly, and about 88% is melted down and processed into new steel - with only a very small portion lost in the process. This makes steel an excellent example of a functioning circular economy.

But sustainability means more than recycling. Structural steel offers several additional benefits:

High resource efficiency thanks to excellent load‑bearing capacity with comparatively low material usage
Potential for lower emissions in production through the use of recycled steel and increasingly climate‑friendly manufacturing processes

Heavy Steel Construction

The larger a project becomes, the more tonnage involved and the more complex the planning - the more it plays to our strengths. Especially with technically demanding structures featuring impressive dimensions, great heights, long spans, or free‑standing designs, steel construction shows what it can deliver. This is how aircraft maintenance hangars with column‑free spans over 65 meters are created, or dry‑dock roofs for shipyards using 2,300 tons of steel across 128 meters in length, 46 meters in width, and 45 meters in height.
