Steel is our DNA

Part 3: Building with steel

C + P and steel go together like fried fish and tartar sauce, like soccer and goal or summer and ice cream. Pretty much inseparable. And so, to mark our 100th company anniversary this year, we are taking a special look at our favorite material. In a four-part series, we will be looking at how our company founders came up with steel, what steel construction is all about and what the future of steel looks like.

In today's third part, we explore why steel inspires us so much when it comes to implementing our construction projects. What makes this material so special, and what are its advantages in construction?

“Once you've smelled kerosene, you'll never forget it,” say people who are passionate about working at and around the airport. It's probably similar with steel. It's as if the flying sparks – safety goggles or not – also make the eyes of those who work with it every day light up.

Whether in the project managers' offices or in our production facilities, this cool, metallic, hard material has the power to inspire passion. We have been working with steel for 100 years now, out of conviction. And as emotional as that may sound, this passion is based on purely objective reasons.

A handful of arguments for building with steel

Argument 1: Building with steel is economical.

Steel is an ideal material for industrial and commercial construction. Steel structures have a high degree of industrial prefabrication, which means considerable added value for our customers. Building with steel therefore saves time and enables precise and predictable construction processes. It also allows construction work to be carried out on existing buildings without interrupting ongoing operations.

Argument 2: Steel is strong.

“High-performance.” When you can manufacture, deliver, and install 5,300 tons of steel within an assembly time of just 15 weeks, for example, you know that with steel, you can think big and achieve results quickly.

Argument 3: Steel is durable and valuable.

With the right surface protection, steel does not weather, become brittle, or lose its load-bearing capacity. At the end of its life cycle, steel can be 100 percent recycled and reused without any loss of quality.

Argument 4: Steel offers freedom in planning.

Steel is timeless not only in terms of its durability, but also in terms of its design. Steel is an ideal sparring partner for architectural variations. In general, relatively little material is used for steel - the slim constructions are the ideal basis for filigree structures, and in combination with other materials, there are virtually no limits to creativity.

Argument 5: Steel is versatile.

In industrial construction in particular, we can realize all types of buildings: whether bridges or halls, offices or power plants, parking garages or sports stadiums, schools or museums. A building material for all purposes.

By the way: we don't build exclusively in steel, because sometimes steel is particularly attractive when combined with other building materials. For turnkey projects, we also implement architectural specifications in all other types of construction. Our modular construction is also not limited to any particular building material.

We are team "steel love"

But still: our love of steel truly is historical. For us, steel is not only good from experience, but often simply an unbeatable material. And that is why we have been team "steel love" for 100 years now.
